Portland Phoenix Top 10 12.21.2007
The Portland Phoenix has released it's list of the 20 best full length cds released by Maine artists in 2007, and our Seas of Blood cd is number 9. The new cd by our uber-pals Covered in Bees is on the list as well at number 13, and the rest of it reads like a who's who of local talent, including Rustic Overtones, Lost on Liftoff, Twisted Roots and Sara Cox. (side note: in 2005 our debut ep Eternally made the Phoenix's Top 5 ep's list.) We feel honored to be rubbing elbows with Maine's best of the best.

International Sales! 11.28.2007
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Seas of Blood is being purchased by fans in Germany and Japan. Hopefully sales in Italy will pick up and help complete our Axis Powers motif.

Seas of Blood on iTunes 11.27.2007
By Blood Alone's new cd is available for purchase at the iTunes Store, and for only $7.92! That's by far the cheapest deal out there, though you don't get to eyeball the fantastic cover art. Click here to purchase.

Audio of By Blood Alone's interview on WCLZ-FM which broadcast on Oct 24th, 2007 is now available in the here.

CD For Sale at CDBaby.com and Relapse Distro 11.13.2007
Seas of Blood is (finally) available for purchase through both CDBaby.com and our distributor, Relapse Distro. (Apparently the Relapse offices are buzzing with compliments about the cover art!) Now that CDBaby has processed the cd, it will be submitted to iTunes and Amazon.com (as well as pretty much all other online retailers). We'll keep you posted on that front. Until then, click here to purchase Seas of Blood from CDBaby and here from Relapse Distro.

Seas of Blood in Bullmoose Top 5 11.01.2007
According to the Portland Phoenix, By Blood Alone's Seas of Blood has reached number 5 on the Bullmoose Music local artist sales chart. We share the top 5 with other noted local artists the Rustic Overtones, Dead Season, The Press Project, and Lost On Liftoff. All this was achieved with stock in only two stores - Portland and Scarborough. We think it can confidently be said that by this weekend Seas of Blood should be available at all Bullmoose locations. So why not pick up a copy this week? All the cool kids are doing it!

Review in Portland Press-Herald 10.25.2007
Another fine review of Seas of Blood has been published, this one being by Aimsel Ponti in the "Go" section of today's Portland Press Herald: "I know I harp a lot on the whole 'Goth' angle, but let's be clear: By Blood Alone's sound goes way beyond that. There's a melodic intelligence ever-present, and you'll be able to rock out while also hiding yourself away in a quiet, secret place." Aimsel has been such a great supporter of us over the years, and we thank our lucky stars that Portland has such a fine music scribe (and with such good taste, too!) You can read the entire review here.

CD Available on Digistation.com 10.25.2007
Making it's first step into digital distribution, Seas of Blood is now available on Digistation, an iTunes-like digital music store hosted by Discmakers. Individual songs can be purchased for 99 cents, and the entire album plus artwork in pdf format goes for $9.99. Click here to go directly to Digistation's Seas of Blood page.

Interview on WCLZ plays Wednesday 10.24.2007
By Blood Alone were recently the in-studio guests on "Greetings From Area Code 207", WCLZ-FM's local music show with host Charlie Gaylord. Charlie spun some cuts from the new Seas of Blood cd and chatted with the band about our upcoming cd release show on Saturday, and our plans for the future. The show will air on WCLZ tonight (Wed, Oct 24) at 6pm with a re-broadcast scheduled for Sunday at noon. The show will also be re-broadcast on WBLM-FM on Sunday at 9am. WCLZ can be found at 98.9 FM and WBLM at 102.9 FM.

CD Release Party This Saturday 10.22.2007
This coming Saturday (Oct 27th) is the official Seas of Blood CD release party/Halloween show at Geno's. By Blood Alone vocalist Cruella, who is still in the midst of chemotherapy, will be back behind the microphone for our entire set. Big Coffin Hunters and The Project Seven are on the bill, with the latter making their Geno's debut, and the show is also a benefit for Cruella's medical expenses, so donations are very much encouraged. Of course, By Blood Alone's new CD Seas of Blood will be available at the show along with newly designed t-shirts. This very special event will be By Blood Alone's only public performance until Cruella's breast cancer treatment cycle finishes in 2008, and woe unto those who miss it.

Seas of Blood Released Today 10.18.2007
By Blood Alone's new full length CD Seas of Blood is (finally) now available at Bullmoose Music in Portland and Scarborough ME, with other Bullmoose locations to follow as soon as we can get stock to them. As the CD trickles through the distribution chain, it will also be available from Relapse Mail Order, CD Baby and iTunes.

Review in Portland Phoenix 10.18.2007
Our new disc is the subject of a very well written review by music scribe Sam Pfeifle. By Blood Alone almost always gets positive reviews, but not every journalist really "gets" us. Sam, however, really did: "While 'progressive' as a genre-describer can often just mean nerdy guys into mathematical music and lots of black, By Blood Alone hold true to prog’s basic ideal...to actually push contemporary music forward, and their mix of rhythms, keys, and sound levels is always intriguing." He also throws around words like "original" and "engaging". Click here read the entire review.

Live on WCYY-FM 10.01.2007
On Thursday Oct 4th By Blood Alone will be stopping by WCYY-FM's "Spinout" program to be interviewed by host Mark Curdo. We'll spin some cuts from the new cd Seas of Blood and most likely talk about Cruella's illness and our upcoming halloween/cd release show.

Seas of Blood Out Oct 19th 10.01.2007
Barring any disasters at the pressing plant, the much delayed Seas of Blood cd should be available by Oct 19th, not bad considering all that has changed since Cruella's breast cancer diagnosis in August. Originally slated for release on Oct 2nd, we have been concentrating on arranging benefit activities for her and admittedly let some things regarding the release slide for a few weeks, but the disc is being manufactured as we speak and there should not be any more holdups (knock on wood.)

Cruella Update 10.01.2007
Our vocalist Melynda "Cruella" Amann is doing quite well, all things considered. Her surgery in August went well, and she's in the thick of chemotherapy right now. She has biweekly doses which put her out of commision for a few days but afterwards she's able to get up and do things and get out of the house a bit. As a pre-emptive strike, she had a head shaving party and looks really hot skinhead style. She's even planning on performing at our Halloween/cd release show at Geno's on Oct 27th! I doubt there will be a dry eye in the house.

Very Important: please visit benefitformelynda.org. The local community is really coming together to support her both emotionally and financially. The site has info about Cruella's condition, benefit activities, ways to make donations, and breast cancer in general. Show some love by surfing over and joining the benefitformelynda.org email list.

Band Member ill - Tour Canceled 08.08.2007
By Blood Alone vocalist Cruella has just received confirmation that she has breast cancer, and has surgery scheduled for Thursday. Obviously we have canceled our fall tour and are all praying that she makes a full recovery, and we ask that you all do the same. We take some solace in the fact that statistically speaking her odds of surviving breast cancer are excellent, but we know that the recovery process could be long and will definitely be hard. Fortunately for her, Cruella and her husband Michael have very supportive families and she is very loved in the local scene, so she has many people pulling for her and offering to help in any way.

Supporting The Brides in August 07.08.2007
Amy at Gothic Maine has invited us to support The Brides on their upcoming tourstop at the Asylum in Portland on August 3rd. We're very excited about this - The Brides' goth/new wave sound gets an A-plus in our book, and how can you go wrong when the keyboard player is named Julia Ghoulia? The truly irreverent Damien Zygote will open. Time until August can't pass fast enough.

Mars Invades Portland...Saturday! 05.02.2007
THE big show of the year, the Halfway to Halloween Horror Ball, is this Saturday. Prepare for episode 2: Mars Attacks! Geno's will be all decked out as the landscape of the horrifing dead planet of Mars, who's inhabitants' only goal is our destruction! There will be rayguns, spaceships, alien autopsies, music by Covered in Bees and By Blood Alone, dance by Vina's Vicious Vixens (hot green chicks - va va voom!) and dj-ing by King Alberto. Come one come all and be prepared for interplanetary war!

Nominated for 2007 Best Music Poll 04.09.2007
Just like in 2006, By Blood Alone has been nominated for Best Category-Defying Act in the Portland Phoenix 2007 Best Music Poll. Many others of Portland's finest muscial artists (like Covered in Bees, Confusatron, and Ocean) have been nominated in various categories as well, so we feel we're in good company. The voting takes place online and ends on April 26th, with the winners being announced at a big social brouhaha on May 16th.

Eternally Review 04.09.2007
Hard-line old-school goth aficianado Mick Mercer has posted a review of Eternally on his website mickmercer.com. Despite traditional goth's dislike of metal, the review was quite glowing - read it here.

Opening for Anthrax Vocalist 03.26.2007
Anthrax Vocalist Joey Belladonna has scheduled a solo performance for Friday, May 18th at the Station in Portland, and we have secured an opening slot. Joey will be performing a lot of old Anthrax material as well as some of his solo work. We of course will be there to crush. Also on the bill are View from the Noose, Civil Disturbance, and Kanagi. The Show is all ages and a bit on the early side, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are $13 and available from direct from By Blood Alone.

Seas of Blood Video Posted 02.21.2007
Live video of "Seas of Blood" filmed over the summer (on August 26th, I think) has been posted. It will also be made available on YouTube.com. Click here to view it.

Mars Attacks! 01.20.2007
The second edition of the HWTHB, entitled "Halfway to Halloween Ball 2: Mars Attacks!" has been scheduled for Saturday, May 5th 2007. Last year's Ball was a total hoot, and this year promises to be much of the same, but with a 50's sci-fi theme. Covered in Bees is on the bill along with By Blood Alone. If I can dig my Evil Alien Dictator costume out of the attic then interplanetary domination is only a step away...
