Our Thoughts: KC's Tap (Providence RI)
With a “what the heck” attitude we agreed to do this show even though the last time there in 2005 was fun but not terribly well attended. Attendance at this show was even worse, but at least there were more people watching us than any of the other bands, and we played great. In actuality it’s been a while since we played any less than great – we seem to have hit our stride. Runtt’s old band Vague Perception played first – very punk – and he played one song with them at the end which was over before we could blink. VP’s present drummer is left handed, and Runtt played the left handed kit pretty flawlessly.
We were supposed to go on 4th of 5, but band 2 never showed (?I?), so we went on 2nd. Band 3 showed up during our set missing most of their gear and apparently started hitting up the other bands for a gear loan (?!?!?!?) and the Coffinettes (hot goth girls who rep for Coffin Case) were also a no-show. The last band was cut to 20 minutes and went onstage extremly hopped up. Too much so: while rocking out, the singer broke the cellist’s instrument, the bass player used his wireless unit to make quite a fool of himself by stepping up to Jenny to rock out right in front of her, to which she rolled her eyes.
however, I must say I had a great time on this whole trip. It was nice to get out of Maine for a bit, and I must confess I love hanging around in punk/metal dives with black painted walls. On the way back the next day we stopped in with my sister in CT and did lunch with her and my nephew.
