Our thoughts: Pub 33 (Lewiston ME)
Halloween w/Taming the Shrew and Covered in Bees
Upon arriving at Pub 33 we were faced with an odd sight: a couch right where the bands usually set up. Obviously this was quite perplexing until a guy who said he was playing with Taming the Shrew that night directed us to the next room. It seems that in anticipation of the halloween crowd the club decided to re-work the floorplan to give more space to the band-watchers, and while the space we were moved to was admittedly bigger, it had no lights at all! Once we were ready to play the only illumination we had was coming from the LCD displays on the front of our amps. As a result, I made more than a few mistakes. How could I not? I couldn’t see my guitar neck! So, the set was merely ok. The crowd was huge for Pub 33 and only got larger later on. By the time Taming the Shrew went on is was mighty full in there. Apparently TTS’s bass player quit, so while they are searching for a new one they decided to play this show with drummer Brandon covering bass and some guy they know playing drums (who did an excellent job on only three rehearsals apparently.) Later the Bee’s took the stage dressed as Universal film monsters (Ed-Dracula, Doug-Wolfman, Tristan-The Mummy, and Boo-Dr. Frankenstein.) At the end it was an odd night for us but a good one overall.
